Free Edition launched – Free Cloud CRM for 2 users

19 October 2010

We’re excited to launch Really Simple Systems Free Edition, a free hosted CRM system for two users.

Free, forever!

It can handle up to 100 Accounts and 100Mb of document storage, after that users can upgrade to Premium or Enterprise Editions if they need to – but we expect many won’t.

We’re expecting to sign up around 10,000 users over the next twelve months.

Existing customers are free to downgrade to Free Edition at the end of their current subscription period, which in the case of those that pay monthly by credit card will be immediately.

The official announcement is on our news page.

Independent analysts, lawyers and software vendors (including us) will explain what SaaS is, where it fits, where it doesn’t and what to check before deploying.

Full details on the Intellect UK site. And it’s free, by the way!

LINX failure causes CRM access problems

14 December 2009

Last Thursday afternoon (10-Dec-2009) we had a few users reporting that access to www.reallysimplesystems.com was slow and/or inconsistent, with page timeouts occassionally happening. We spent a manic few hours trying to diagnose the problem, and discovered it was a major fault in the UK’s Internet routing system – the London Internet Exchange (LINX) had a major failure and this affected many thousands of sites. It was fixed later that same afternoon.

The Internet is normally pretty robust, when one part parts fails it is normally able to reconfigure itself to find another route to and from end points, but this time it took a while for enginners to fix.

Thanks to all the customers to reported this, and there a full description of the problem on The Register.
